I love building LEGO® Mocs from my imagination and this Mecha inspired Fish Submarine is the perfect example of that. It has mechanical arms, fins, propellers, stylized eyes and a clear bubble cabin for our mini-figure – it is ready for some Ocean Exploration.
The Mecha Fish Submarine build process
Not every LEGO® build is easy – but this one came together surprisingly fast (always a sign that you are inspired). My original goal was to take the parts from the Underwater Robot 3in1 Set and make something far cooler that also fits into the LEGO® Ocean Exploration theme.
I started by creating the main body of the fish in dark blue gray wedges then I built the yellow front cabin separately. I joined the two sections with technic pins then built out the top and rear fins with brick arches. I took the original robots mechanical arms and added to them then attached them to the body of the fish submarine.
The fun part was adding in all the details like the hatch on the top, the engine tubes and propellers. I am really happy with the results and when I have even more parts I want to revisit this build and make it even larger!
Inspiration for the Mecha Build
I was directly inspired by the new series of LEGO® Monkie Kid Sets and felt a little of this funky stylized building would take the Mecha Fish Submarine to the next level. Although I like the new Ocean Exploration sets I find them a little boring so this was a great opportunity to try out something more creative.
LEGO® Ocean Exploration resource guide
Websites, books, links, LEGO® Sets and Pinterest Boards to help you find inspiration for your next Ocean Exploration build. If you have additional resources please contact me so I can add them to the list.
I find it useful to look at LEGO® instructions from current and legacy sets when building my own mocs. They can give you great ideas and help you build a base for your own unique creation. These are some of the Ocean Exploration sets I find really helpful.
If you have a great LEGO® resource to add to this list let me know and send me a message.
